Wotton House

Situated in the glorious Surrey Hills, this Country Estate Hotel boasts 127 bedrooms and suites with stylish grey-green décor as well as 13 acres of landscaped gardens with two Roman temples. Expect Hunter wellies lined up at the oak door and beautiful surroundings ready to be explored. 

What we liked: A plant-based menu at dinner with creative dishes, locally sourced and served with pride. And if you’re staying for longer and want to explore the local restaurant scene, make sure to add Wotton Hatch to your list. They serve an extensive vegan-friendly menu, full of flavoursome favourites with plant-based twists.

Rowhill Grange, Kent

Nestled in the heart of the Kentish countryside, Rowhill Grange is the destination for a romantic weekend getaway. Expect Victorian bathtubs, an award-winning spa and 15 acres of beautiful gardens. The hotel’s restaurant, holding 2 AA Rosettes, is absolute heaven for foodies, vegans and non-vegans alike. Using unique flavour combinations and taking inspiration from local produce and suppliers, their creative menu features mouthwatering plant-based dishes such as a curried cauliflower steak with beetroot freekeh and vegetable wellington with heritage carrot, onion and mushroom jus.

What we liked: A truly special spa experience with two floors of pools, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and a fitness suite.

Barnett Hill Hotel, Guildford

Barnett Hill is a bold re-imagining of a country house hotel and an absolute highlight for any kind of weekend getaway. Contemporary and design-led, the 56 rooms and suites are appointed with luxurious and chic furnishings, set across the main Mansion House, Coach House, Mews and Gardener’s Cottage. Revealing itself at the end of a winding and tree-lined drive, Barnett Hill is set within 26 acres of verdant grounds, with manicured gardens and terraces all around the magnificent Queen Anne-style building.

What we liked: The absolutely stunning architecture as well as interior design. Chandeliers netted in black chains and wallpaper with hand-painted tulips, the recent nine-month refurbishment turned this place into a fairytale-like English palace.

The Angel Hotel, Suffolk

What we liked: The AA Rosette-awarded restaurant is an absolute highlight. Expect inspirational and interesting dishes with ingredients sourced from the very best, local producers and an incredibly vegan-friendly menu.

If you fancy a real staycation and don’t want to leave London, Richmond Hill Hotel is the getaway for you. Expect show-stopping Georgian features and modern elegance. What we liked: Their substantial food and drink offering. From vegan sausages and soy milk at the breakfast buffet to plenty of plant-based options at their restaurant 144 On The Hill, they’ll go out of their way to accommodate every dietary requirement.
